Our new Innovation Centre for biomaterials was officially inaugurated on 17 December 2015 in Nacka, Stockholm, Sweden. The Centre hosts research, application, business development and strategic marketing under one roof.
The power of diversity
In Stora Enso, we believe in the power of diversity. Today, the Innovation Centre's staff puts together talents from 14 different nationalities (Sweden, Finland, Portugal, Brazil, Italy, Germany, France, Romania, Pakistan, Czech Republic, The Netherlands, Iraq, China, Algeria and Colombia.)
A milestone in our transformation
The Innovation Centre boosts our competitive offering by identifying business opportunities in the renewable materials market and linking them with leading innovation and research centres in business and academia. It is an important step towards our company’s transformation into a renewable materials company.
Alongside our access to biomass and expertise in fibres, the Centre will boost our competitive offering, benefitting our clients in multiple industries and markets. It will also have a close connection to our pilot and demonstration facilities in the US, as well as other R&D areas in the company.
Innovation Centre employees come from different markets, applications, technologies and geographical areas. They will work together to find solutions based on wood and second-generation biomass. There are currently 50 people employed at the Centre, and recruitment for new talent is ongoing. We expect the Centre to accommodate around 100 employees by the end of next year.
